Hello friend, you’ve reached Matthew Carey. I lead experimental creative teams to shape emerging technology into tools, toys and tales for expanding the human imagination. 

I get my juice from collaboration. Building, growing and leading diverse teams to create their best work by making things they give a shit about. I’ve had the pleasure of leading stellar creative teams at agencies like W+K and 72andSunny. And for the past 9 years I’ve been at Google Creative Lab leading filmmakers, technologists, writers and designers to make things that have never been made before.

I get my inspiration from visionaries. Mind melding to find the essence of their vision and bringing it into the world. I’ve had the privilege of working directly with a pantheon of amazing humans: from Nobel Prize winners like Demis Hassabis to founders like Salman Khan to icons like Rihanna to visionaries like Darren Aronofsky.

Together we have created national monuments, music videos, apps, TED Talks, platinum-selling album launches, brands, rebrands, school curricula, new products, new businesses, the most successful social campaign in Google’s history, the largest portrait in world history, the largest online platform for ecosystem restoration, a book that illustrators taught to illustrate itself, an AI powered thesaurus for rappers, a photo booth that can take your picture in any part of the multiverse, and the most used tool for filmmaking in the AI era.
